A high resolution video system detects the pupil of the right and the left eye and the data are represented at a Tablet PC of the PHOROSTAR 600 CAM. A video camera is one component of the complete refraction system and is installed at the front of the LCD chart POLASTAR, in direction to the patient. 

The system is derived from the eyeglass technology procedures of the video centration. The alignment of the phoropter apertures in direction to the patient’s pupils is computer-assisted with high accuracy and speed.

Together with the adjustment of the Phoropter via the nosebridge and the frame temples to the patient’s head, the adjustment status shall be preserved during the whole refraction procedure. Measurement errors by decentration (e.g. as abberational astigmatism and prismatic power) can be avoided.

This will be the first phoropter solution with advantages in precision in comparison to the conventional trial frame. In addition, our system allows an improved pupil centration.
